Story Direction and Boards

My directing philosophy rests solely on being a conduit for realizing the voices of story artists, writers, and show runners to maximize the value of the story they have set out to tell. Animation is a relay race, and I see my role as the anchor; when I get that baton, I’m looking to finish strong built on the sweat and hustle of those before me.

Transparency is key. For all those creating to the left and right of me, I want to make sure everyone knows the reasons for the choices I make, and I’m equally curious to learn from the choices everyone else makes. What’s better than learning and talking shop?!

“I got into animation to be a part of greatest art form ever created. Give me characters that are emotionally tethered, but untethered from physics; subtle acting paired with broad comedy; getting in late and out early; efficiency in line mileage so I can over-pose for a joke. Yeah, I’m guilty of putting hats on hats! But I’d rather be over dressed for the occasion than show up naked to the party.”
